STRIVE

STRIVE is our dynamic job placement and support program focused on helping teens and adults with disabilities secure employment and attain financial independence. Through job readiness training, coaching, and networking opportunities, we empower teens with the skills and confidence needed to thrive in the workforce.

STRIVE in Healthcare

Easterseals Florida’s STRIVE (Skills Training Results in Vocational Employment) in Healthcare program offers a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) test prep course. The curriculum is based on state standards and provides training on the written and skills part of the CNA exam. Students must be at least 18 years old before the class is over.

  • Classes taught by certified nurses or nurse assistant instructors
  • Modules include:
    • CNA program is the class for test prep to sit for the FL Certified Nursing Assistant exam and includes CPR.
    • CPR/BLS certification through the American Heart Association can be taken as a separate class not to include the CNA prep class.
  • A warm and supportive environment
  • An opportunity to learn and practice skills that are transferable across a number of healthcare professions

Offered: In-person at select schools in Palm Beach and the Greater Orange Counties

STRIVE in Hospitality

Easterseals Florida’s STRIVE (Skills Training Results in Vocational Employment) in Hospitality program is a 65-hour course. The curriculum is based on standards from the American Hotel & Lodging Educational Institute, to prepare individuals ages 15 and up with a disability to work in the hospitality industry.

  • Classes taught year-round by certified hospitality instructors
  • Certification modules include:
    • Guest Room Attendant
    • Breakfast Attendant
    • Maintenance
    • Front Desk Representative
    • Guest Services Gold
    • Kitchen Cook
    • Restaurant Server
  • A warm and supportive environment
  • An opportunity to learn skills that are transferable across a number of professions and vocations
  • ServSafe Certification *offered virtually and in select in-person locations

Offered: Virtual statewide and in-person at select schools in Palm Beach, Duval, Collier, Volusia, Hillsborough, and the Greater Orange Counties

STRIVE in Technology

Easterseals Florida’s STRIVE (Skills Training Results in Vocational Employment) in Technology program offers a beginner-friendly introduction to 3D design and printing. Students learn through hands-on activities, visual instruction, teamwork, and project-based lessons.

The course covers 3D design, printer operation, safety, slicing, and troubleshooting. Students also explore real-world applications and creative projects using 3D printing technology. Additional topics include assistive technology, entrepreneurship, and portfolio development.

Students build practical skills while creating projects they can showcase in a final portfolio presentation. Lessons use simple vocabulary and hands-on learning to support different learning styles and experience levels.

This course is recommended for ages 15 and older. It is a great fit for high school students, vocational rehabilitation programs, STEM programs, makerspaces, and beginner adult learners.

Offered: Virtual statewide and in West Palm Beach.
